This event is a poetry/spoken word showcase by the Native American Community Academy poets. Juniors and Seniors will have completed a semester of dual enrollment credit through Institute of American Indian Arts and will share their original individual and group poems. Instructor Jessica Helen Lopez will emcee the event. There will be a 6:30 pm sign-up for the slam. Show starts at 7 pm featuring the NACA poets. Break @ 8 pm for 15 minutes. Slam starts at 8:15 pm. THE POETRY SLAM IS OPEN TO ALL YOUTH POETS FROM ALL SCHOOLS.
Join us early for a free writing/performance workshop with renonwned Native slam poet Rowie Shebala AND Jon Marcantoni, founder of La Casita Grande press. Workshop will be from 5:00 — 6:00 pm in the Warehouse 508 Mac Shack.

ABOUT THE COVER ARTIST: Adelina Cruz is a Queer Non Binary Xicanx visual artist from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Adelina is a visual artist who primarily works with acrylics, oil, spray paint, and more recently graphic design and digital art. Adelina strongly believes that art can be used as a form of activism, education, personal and community healing. Adelina's palette includes bright colors and bold visuals that tell the stories of their experiences and the world around them, focusing on themes and issues such as addiction, gender identity, queerness, xicanx identity and cultura.
