Ben Hathorne was a Corrales native who grew up singing in the boys choir in elementary school, playing drums in the Cibola High School marching band and then UNM marching band. Growing up Ben was influenced by his uncle who played guitar and taught him to play a few chords and Ben was hooked. He loved music, and wanted to learn every and all instruments and did so effortlessly.

In 1993 Ben Hathorne and Jason Daniello formed an acoustic duo act playing at coffee houses around the Albuquerque area. Then quickly moved on to play the Fat Chance Bar and Grill where they gained popularity and a bigger following. Jason and Ben's harmonious voices added with catchy upbeat songs and crazy charismatic personalities made this duo a local favorite that earned them the nick name «the Indigo Boys». It wasn't long before they decided to add two members to the group, Jeff Romanuik on drums and Kelly Fagan on bass which became the band NAOMI. Once this happened, their popularity grew, playing different venues, from the Dingo Bar, to Brewster's Pub, Launchpad and many others. They also made regular local TV and radio appearances along with participating in the weekly Alibi downtown crawl.

NAOMI released two CDs, «Hurts» and «World Spinning». When the band disbanded in 1999, Ben went on to form The Hopefuls and Jason went on to form Jason and the Argonauts. Jeff and Kelly joined each project along with other side projects.
