Critical Mass happens on the last Friday of the month, every month. The group switches back and forth from the UNM Duck Pond to the Civic Plaza to help engage different areas of the city. Meet at 6:30. Pedals up at 7:00. We ride about 90 minutes at a slow pace that'll keep the group together. There's always fun!
This is for everyone. Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Your crazy uncle Ted and all your exes, even the ones in Texas. Hand Cycles, Recumbents, Tall Bikes, Cruisers, Road Machines, e-bikes and just plain old bikes. Dress for the weather and a night out. Lights and helmets are welcome.
Critical Mass is a kind of driver education. People need to practice their interactions with bicycles and we want to make sure everyone has a lot of practice. We go by Old Town, Downtown and Nob Hill. People drive from all over town to have a good time at these places on Friday. We're driving to all of them on bikes for the same reason. People shout encouragement at us when we pass, even people driving cars.
